Identification of Garlic Genotypes for Resistant Sources against Purple Blotch Disease

چکیده

Garlic is an herbaceous annual bulbous plant in the family Amaryllidaceae grown for its pungent and edible bulb. Among various biotic factors hindering production productivity, purple blotch plays a predominant role changing crops morpho-physiological characters, thus deteriorating metabolic activity turn affecting yield considerably. Fungicides have been recommended control of disease, however use fungicides expensive not eco-friendly. The best approach to disease by using resistant genotypes. Hence, 37 genotypes were field screened at AINRPOG (All India Network Research Project on Onion Garlic), MARS (Main Agricultural Station), Dharwad against under artificial epiphytotic conditions during Kharif year 2019 identify sources. results revealed that twenty found be (1-10%) five immune (0%) however, ten moderately (11-20%) reaction. remaining two viz., HRG Local DOGR409 susceptible (21-40%) with maximum grade 3 (0-5) scale. None showed or highly reactions blotch. Breeders can make these identified lines developing high varieties.

Identification of Novel Source of Resistance and Differential Response of Allium Genotypes to Purple Blotch Pathogen, Alternaria porri (Ellis) Ciferri

Purple blotch, caused by Alternaria porri (Ellis) Cifferi, is a serious disease incurring heavy yield losses in the bulb and seed crop of onion and garlic worldwide. There is an immediate need for identification of effective resistance sources for use in host resistance breeding. A total of 43 Allium genotypes were screened for purple blotch resistance under field conditions. Allium cepa access...

A biological and molecular characterization of some Egyptian barley genotypes which are resistant to net blotch disease.

A survey for resistance against net blotch disease (caused by Pyrenophora teres) was performed on some Egyptian barley landraces and some selected resistance and susceptible standard German barley genotypes. The results indicated that most of the Egyptian barley landraces are extremely resistant to the disease. Molecular analysis using RAPD and AFLP showed unique banding profiles for the differ...

The Antibacterial Effect of Aqueous Extract of Garlic against Resistant Enterococci

Abstract       Background and Objective: Enterococci are relatively nonvirulent bacteria that rarely cause disease. Antimicrobial treatment of Enterococci is often challenging due to their antibiotic resistance. This study aimed to investigate the antibacterial activity of aqueous extract of garlic against Enterococcal isolates.     Methods: In th...

Spot Blotch, Net Blotch, and Stripe Disease of Barley

Spot blotch is caused by Helminthosporium sativum or H. sorokinianum = Drechslera sorokiniana (Bipolaris sorokiniana). The disease is widespread in Illinois and is believed to lower potential barley yields by 1 to 3 percent; also, the bushel weight. The causal fungus affects all parts of the plant and produces a variety of symptoms, from a seedling blight and root rot to “Black point” of the ke...
